Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving with Brett's family.
We had lots of fun and delicious food.
Thanksgiving day we went to Aunt Sherri and Uncle Jim's house to eat.

TG afternoon Brooke, Clark and Mrs. Nancy went to the UT game in Austin.
This is what the rest of us did!
Dot cooking the turkey.

The boys went to the deer lease on Friday.
Here are pics Brett texted me from down there.
Deer hunting.

Dot filthy
An arrowhead.  I always give Brett and his dad a hard time and say the arrowheads they find down there are not real so they are always on a quest to find more and prove to me they are. haha
Dot even dirtier and exhausted.

While the boys were hunting us girls took the dogs on the walk, played games, went out to eat and did lots of relaxing!
Sassy and Dot both got a bath after the boys got back.  I blow dried both of them so they wouldn't be wet when we got in bed.  They both liked it but Sassy cracked us up.  She loved it.

I missed my family, but I am so thankful that Brett's family is so awesome.  They made being away from mine for the first time on a holiday much easier :)

Ryan and Randi Visit

Ryan and Randi came to see us back in October.  Since they have lived in Kentucky we have tried to make a point to see each other a few times a year.  Our trip to visit them was back in June for Brett and Ryan's birthdays.
As always we had a wonderful time.
We cooked a fancy meal one night instead of going out.  This was our appetizer.

Brett fogged the yard to try to get rid of mosquitos so we could eat out there.

Randi and I cooked dessert while the boys grilled.

Yum.

Brett and Ryan built a fire and lit candles for us!

Yummy

Brett and Ryan went to the Texas/OU game.  We dropped them off and went to White Rock Lake for a walk and lounged around the rest of the day.

Pics of all of us before going out to eat one night.
Somehow Randi's cute baby bump is cut out of all of these!

We spent one afternoon in an area of Dallas called the Bishop Arts District.  It has really neat shops and restaurants.

Neat view of downtown.  This is a new bridge that just opened up a few months ago.

These photos were in no order because of my issue with uploading, but I think you can see how much fun we had with our friends!
Next time we get together they will have baby Gavin.  Can't wait!

Lately Via the iPhone

I've been lazy about blogging lately.  I would do it more often, but I think it is a lot of trouble to upload photos. I think having a Mac makes is harder or maybe I just don't know the best way...

Sassy and Dot hanging out while Brett worked on the jeep.  They were hoping we were going for a ride.
This happens all of the time.  Dot loves to be doing whatever her dad is doing.  This time he set her a bed up in the window.
Brett and I have grilled out and had a fire in the pit a few times on cooler nights.  I got Sassy some pecans to snack on while we hung out.  One of Sassy's favorite things to do it eat pecans while sitting by the fire :).  My parents always have nuts by the fireplace and that is where her habit started.
Aunt Mary had her annual Halloween dinner.  Mummy Meatloaf and Ghost Pizza were just two of the many delicious items served.
Brett and I have been seeing lots of fun concerts and shows lately.
We went to Kooza, a Cirque Du Soleil show.  I got in trouble for snapping these pics.  I have no idea how they saw me!
This was at Ryan Bingham.  A great concert, but I felt old!  It was mostly college kids and I got tired of standing up the entire time!
Last week we went hear Eddie Vedder, the lead singer of Pearl Jam.  It was just him and all acoustic and it was amazing.  Brett has been a Pearl Jam fan since high school and was so excited to go see him.
Baby Drake was finally born!  He made his debut a week past his due date and is so, so cute!
Aunt Becky gave her "bosses" these cute bouquet for Bosses Day.  So clever and thoughtful.

I'm back on my crochet kick.  I made this hat for Baby Gavin who will be here in Feb.
Made one like this for Cora and Madelyn.
The blanket is also for Baby Gavin.

Brett's schedule is still busy, but so much better than last year.  He has almost had 2 weekends off each month so we are enjoying getting to hang out together without the pager a little more often!
He starts at a hospital in Fort Worth in December and will have to be there for the next 5 months.  He really likes the attending Dr.'s there so hopefully that will make up for the daily drive.

Living Room

We ordered a new couch a few months back and it finally came in!  It is so much bigger and more cozy than our old one and we are loving it.

Brett had plans to put the old one in their call room at the hospital but it lived in the dining room for a little longer than I would have liked.
(I might have threatened to put it on Craigslist a few times because I got tired of squeezing through there!)
In Brett's defense he was waiting for his truck to get fixed which STILL ISN'T.  It has been in the shop for over 5 weeks now getting the hail damage repaired.
Thankfully a friend came and helped move it to the hospital.

Now it sits in their call room and they can relax on the couch rather than a desk chair during their all nighters up there.   He got a text from the guy on call the other night that said: "This couch changes everything."
Brett also took his mini fridge from college up there.
Those boys are all loving the new additions.

So back to the living room.
You may notice the couch isn't the only change.
Check out the beautiful cedar coffee table!
That's right, Uncle Jimmy has been at it again.
He whipped this beauty up after I commented that I wanted to use one of his benches he made as a coffee table.
I can't believe how pretty his work is.  All I could have done with this dead, fallen tree is make fire wood and look at this!
We are loving it.
It even smells good.

Funfetti Cupcakes

Here is a recipe from Pinterest that looked like too much fun to pass up!

Homemade Funfetti Cake with Marshmallow Cream Icing
The recipe can be found on a blog called Baked Bree

We made cupcakes.  The recipe ended up making 18 regular sized cupcakes and 24 minis.

Randi has been in town and we had so much fun cooking these together!

Look how fun these are!

We dipped them in sprinkles after they were iced.

How cute are they!!
I would definitely make these again.  They were delicious.  I had never made icing using marshmallow cream.  It makes the icing so smooth, creamy and delicious!
